The Spectators |
|
There really is more than one way to tell a great
story, and the author of this series has done a beautiful job crafting this
beautifully written version of the Jack Deveraux story, affectionately
called The Spectator.
What is it about?
On the outset it appears to be fan-fiction. But
it's not... Not exactly... The author here is retelling a tale that played
out on Days Of Our Lives, shining a huge spotlight on one of the most
complex characters that so many people remember well. Jack Deveraux was
dark, devious and manipulative, while at the same time he could be
passionate, charming and just plain sweet. But, believe me, The Spectators
is not written like anything I've ever read online before. This is not a
written transcript of the show. It's written in the style of a great romance
novel. The author has written it in such a way that you'd swear you
were right there in the moment living Jack Deveraux's life. It's a
challenging story to have written, and the author has put an unimaginable
amount of work into retelling a complex and beautiful love story that many
people may remember with fond memories.
Why is it so unique?
About seventy percent of the chapters are taken
from the story that played out on television, wonderfully retold in great
detail. But it's not just a play by play account of what happened on air...
The part that will delight you more than anything
are the details the author has added into the story that a viewer of the
show might not have known about. There is a great deal of original material
that was added into this wonderful story that lead the reader to understand
the moments that transpired after the cameras stopped rolling on set. If you've ever wondered what happened after the scene fades
to black on television, read this story. I laughed and cried the whole way
through it...
The story is
only half over... It's being updated and added to over time, so you can
participate in discussing it as the new installments appear. Enjoy this one!
It'll certainly keep you warm on those cold winter nights... |

Footprints |
|
Footprints is one of the original online web dramas
that has certainly captivated me. It's been in production since 1997,
creating a delightful reading experience each time the story is updated. All
of their past episodes (457 at the time this was written) from the past ten
years have been archived for you to enjoy. But don't let the volume of
episodes intimidate you. It is an experience well worth taking your time to
enjoy. There are summaries of everything
that's archived to help get you started, there is a cast list and family tree to help you
keep track of who's who, a message forum to hear what others think of this
web drama... But, for all that is contained on this website, it's
incredibly easy to navigate and find your way around.
|
Excerpt from Michael - Producer of Footprints:
"During your times of trial
and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints... it was then
that I carried you."
Since 1997, Footprints has
brought to life the tale of the Fisher family, as they learn that the
times when we don't want to admit needing other people are the times
when we need them most. Footprints is committed to delivering family
drama in the vein of the great television soap operas--only now,
everything that you need is right at your fingertips. |

The Company Therapist |
|
There is no way for me to describe this website in a
way that can justify how entertaining it really is. I'll quote a portion of
the introduction from the website itself: "The stories of Dr. Balis'
patients are revealed through his files. There are transcripts of therapy
sessions, patient diaries and logs, doodles, personnel records, telephone
conversations, and other written and graphical materials. The Company
Therapist is designed to allow a deep exploration of its characters and
their stories." |
|
|
|
It's more than just a story... |
|
If you've ever fancied the idea of yourself as being
an amateur armchair psychologist, then this website for you. And if you've
just been looking for something fun and different to enjoy reading online,
this website is also for you. It's really quite an adventure once you get
started. |

6. Romance Novels Resources Online! |
|
Alright, while this entry may not exactly count as
romantic fiction online, I daresay one fabulous new resource online for
finding great novels are the reviewing websites. Let them do the work for
you! Just like Siskel and Ebert helped you find great movies, there are
websites out there specifically designed to help you find great romance
novels to read. Don't waste your hard earned money on a rotten find. These
reviewers aren't kidding either. If they dislike a book, they'll honestly
say so, and tell you exactly what stunk about the book. |

10. Schuyler Falls |
|
Now into its fourth episodic season, Schuyler Falls is an amazing read that
has grown to gargantuan proportions. This was the first online internet soap
opera that I managed to get hooked on. There is true quality in the work
these writers did. For a time I was in touch with one of the authors, Kira
Lerner. She is a very dedicated woman who takes writing seriously.
To quote the authors regarding the book, Schuyler Falls: "At its most
basic, it's about the citizens of an upstate New York town whose lives
suddenly intersect when a murder rips their world apart. Speaking
thematically, ASF focuses on the darkness and complexity that lurks within
the human mind. In Schuyler Falls, people are often their own worst
enemies."

Robyn's
Writings |
It's
astonishing to me that this woman has not yet been picked up by a major
publishing firm for international publication! There are SIX amazingly
written romance novels on the website right now! All of them are available
for download. My absolute favorite was probably Blood & Tears, but from the
people I've talked to, all of Robyn's novels are award winners. If you would
love to sit and dig your hand into a really meaty romance novel tonight,
don't miss this woman's stories!

Dusk

|
Dusk to Dawn has been a
treasured part of the romantic online fiction world since Intersoap
Magazine began in 1999. It's writer is a talented treasure in this genre
and the book has grown to an impressive thirty-one chapters. Dusk to Dawn
made the top three several times, voted there by our readers. Check out
Sunny's book and send her an email after you've read it to see how she's

The RomanzWriter
- Kimberley Comeaux |
I had no idea this woman's novels were still online! Kimberley is certainly a
wonderful Romanz Writer, no doubt about it. The woman who brought the world
Destiny's Pirate and Wish Upon A Star has apparently added two short stories to
her website for everyone to read. This woman's work has generously been
available for the public to read for a long time. If you haven't given either of
her full length novels a look, you should... She's authored over 12 books now,
yet she's continue to leave two very wonderful pieces online to read for free!

Interior Motives |
|
Diane Maxwell certainly has a wonderful gift for writing contemporary fiction.
The books seems to have a simple premise, but the author managed to draw it out
into thirty-eight wonderful chapters. The pages are extremely easy on the eyes,
and the structure of the book is simple to follow. But don't wait too long! One
of the books on the website was recently pulled in order to be published, a
testament to the fine work being done by the writers there. |

Romance At
Heart Magazine! |
|
What a really great website this was to find on the internet! It is so
incredibly reminiscent of my work on Intersoap Magazine. The writers on that
website have a great sense of what goes into making a really great love story.
They've placed six different books up for the public to read for free. One of
them, called Love Beyond Time, was what drew me into the website. It appears to
have been written between several authors, which is a concept I found
intriguing. All six books are of manageable size. If you're looking for some
shorter novels to hold your attention for the evening, take a look at their
magazine!

The Jack Deveraux
Story |
|
This
website, known as The Matthew Ashford Page, has an absolutely beautiful
story to tell. A complete recounting of one the most revered stories in
daytime history was lovingly retold by the web author and her friends.
TJDS-The Jack Deveraux Story is the story of a man who was raised to know
only wealth and power, whose world came crashing down throughout the course
of the story. On the most amazing day in his life, one that seemed the
culmination of everything he'd ever worked for, everything and everyone
suddenly turned against him.
Jack is assaulted quite suddenly with the news that he was actually
adopted out of a small town, grass roots family. His real family is the one
he's been trying to destroy... And just when it couldn't seem to get any
worse, his highly revered adopted father drops the worst bombshell on him of
all.
But, believe it or not, that's only the very beginning of the story. Just
when it seems his world is wrecked beyond salvation, in walks the feisty
young woman who would try to help heal his broken heart. This story has
everything! Love, drama, laughter, tears...
If you never saw the original acts played out on national television,
this is probably the second best thing. The love story of Jack and Jennifer
was one that touched me greatly when I watched it. I was dumbfounded to see
that someone had retold the tale so beautifully. Give this story a chance
and see if you don't agree. TJDS is free to read online. Support Sally A.
Wilson and friends, who took an incredible amount of time out of their lives
to support the man behind the story.
