Caregivers: As a mother of two, I know it can be a daunting job to try and keep your children entertained day in and out. Babysitters, daycare workers and grandparents will also attest that keeping children busy can be a difficult task. And then, when you visit your local department store and see all of the buzzing, flashing, supersonic games that the kids want, do you get a headache looking at those high prices? Did you know, there are some great toys you can create right in your own kitchen, using common household ingredients? These homemade toys can be just as much fun to make as they are to play with. And, most of the projects you see listed here are also made relatively cheaply, some of them very quickly. I've been collaborating with an old friend of mine who has some tricks up her sleeve for creating some great old-time toys that you probably remember playing with when you were a child. Check out the projects listed in the left-hand column. It might surprise you to know that you probably already have many of the necessary ingredients lying in your house right now. If not, your local supermarket should have everything you will need to make some great toys to keep the kids entertained. Easy, printable, instructions are given for each of these fun projects that will have the children amazed right along side you as you begin to remember your own childhood. Adult supervision and help are necessary for many of the projects listed, but there's nothing overly difficult about doing any of them. This Children's Crafting section of The Quiet Corner is a work in progress. You are welcome to stop by and join in on all of the fun while it's here. Send me your thoughts if you have any questions, comments or concerns as you wander through the pages. Check back often for new ideas for entertaining your little one. And remember, these recipes can be as much fun for the adults as they are for the kids. Have fun playing!
